An urban growing revolution is needed.
The production and transportation of food accounts for 33% of the UK’s total emissions1
The building industry has the ability to influence 47% of the UK’s total CO2 emissions2
Through an urban agricultural focus it is possible to create socially, economically and environmentally sustainable architecture.

Food production needs to happen on a scale of engagement and production, from Starter Kits tailored to individual growing, through community plot provision for schools and neighbourhoods, up to industrialised urban farming to feed a city.
The Food City research focuses primarily on larger scale farming, progressing from the City Growing Toolkit, which addresses a smaller scale of production.
For the last two years I have been studying at the Manchester School of Architecture, developing live projects within the city.
